Adoptions

During the last 14 years I have represented many prospective parents in many different types of adoptions, including step parent adoptions, relative adoptions, agency adoptions and foreign adoptions. Family adoptions involve a  family member who wants to adopt a child in his/her family, it could be grandparents interested in adopting a grandchild or an aunt wanting to adopt a niece or nephew or even a sister wanting to adopt a younger brother or sister.  Step parent adoptions occur when a step parent wants to adopt a step child.    Both forms of adoption require the adoptive parents to make an  effort to locate the biological or legal parents, if  one or both are still alive.  The law requires that the parent(s) receive  notice  of the adoption action at the  onset of the case.

Children can also be adopted through a local agency or abroad.   These forms of adoption do not  require  consent from the  legal or biological parents, even if they are alive.

If you are thinking about adoption, it is a good idea to understand what your options are.  Don’t wait, let’s talk.  Contact me by e-mail or call me at (678)513-7070.
